About Crawford House

New ideas, new thinking on society and social issues, new ways of tackling urban regeneration do not come out of the clouds. They come from people, in communities, in voluntary and not-for-profit organisations, at home and on the street. These ideas materialise when the dedication and commitment of individuals in these communities connect with each other and develop partnerships with the public and private sectors to create a shared vision of community development.

A group of organisations and individuals dedicated to a similar vision came together to improve the condition of all sectors of the Gramby Toxteth community and to form the Crawford House Community Partnership (CHCP) with the objective to develop the Crawford House Centre for the benefit of our community and to provide an enterprise centre with offices, support and managed workspace at affordable rents for all concerned.

Our Aims

In the Centre we aim to bring together in one place a wide variety of people from business, public and voluntary sector backgrounds, different cultures and languages, thinkers and doers, creators and practitioners in a ‘critical space' to stimulate change and develop new ways of working together. It will be a focal point where new relationships are realised and new ideas turned into practical opportunities.

Crawford House aims to be a place where people will meet not necessarily around minutes and papers, but around chai, coffee and good food to do business together. In this respect the building has been designed to maximise opportunities for interaction and collaboration and to benefit from the rich cultural diversity of its users.

The Centre will also provide the opportunity to engage in Capacity Building through the creation of a dedicated space to assist people who are not only confident and enterprising, but also to empower those who are shy, lack skills and the confidence to acquire the ability to shape the quality of their lives and contribute to the well being of the community.

This cultural space will be a catalyst for change in Granby Toxteth, stimulating new ‘out of the box' relationships, creating new ideas and putting in place the foundation stones of a new socially entrepreneurial culture that will transcend the traditional compartments within which we have all lived and worked. The individuals and organisations making up CHCP are committed to making this vision manifest
